Mayim Bialik

Her real name is Mayim Bialik, but you know her as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler from the TV show The Big Bang (a brilliant show). Her character on the show is a neuroscientist.

But here’s the thing - the actress really is a neuroscientist.

Mayim Bialik was accepted at both Harvard and Yale. However, she chose to attend the University of California in order to be close to her parents. She earned a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience in 2000, and went on to the PhD program. In 2005 she took a break from studies to return to acting (she had acted when younger), but then hit her studies again and completed her PhD in 2007. Her thesis examined the role of oxytocin and vasopressin in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in adolescents with Prader-Willi syndrome.

So actually, she’s a real life Amy Farrah Fowler.

Go Science!!!
